Overview:
At Progressive Urology, we take a holistic approach to treating bladder cancer. From diagnosis to treatment, we provide plentiful options to help our patients every step of the way. During the diagnosis process, we may perform a cystoscopy to view the bladder and check for signs of abnormal growths. We may then perform a biopsy on the growth to test for the presence of cancerous cells.
Once we know that a patient has bladder cancer, we need to determine the extent of the cancer and whether it has spread to surrounding tissues. CT scans and MRIs can help us in staging the cancer and figuring out the best way to move forward.
What to Expect:
There are numerous treatment options for bladder cancer once we determine its extent and stage. Surgery may be used to remove the cancerous tissue. Chemotherapy of the bladder can treat tumors that are confined in that area. Radiation therapy can also destroy cancer cells in the bladder.
Sometimes, a combination of therapeutic approaches is the best treatment option for bladder cancer. We will work with the patient directly to determine the best route for treating their bladder cancer.
